Historical, canonical and theological views of Patriarch Nikon

Abstract

The article deals with reconstruction and interpretation of historical, canonical and theological views of Patriarch Nikon within the general context of theological disputes in the third quarter of XVII c. The methodology of the study is based on a discourse analysis of quotations in «Objection or Refutation…» and other edifying works of Patriarch, and also investigations of personality and views of His Holiness Nikon in the Russian historiography.
