Dispute of the Great Cappadocians and Eunomius about the boundaries of the knowledge of God and its reception in the Russian philosophy of XX century

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the tradition of perception of name and word, shaped in the Christian literature of the patristic period. As a central historical philosophical episode the Eunomius disputes of the IV century are considered, in the process of which the Saint Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and Gregory of Nyssa gave the antinomy answer to the question of incomprehensibility of God’s essence and comprehensibility of energies. The second part of the article deals with the reception of disputes in the workings of the Russian philosophers S.N. Bulgakov and A.F. Losev.
