Psychology of religion: problems and prospects of development

Abstract

The article gives the review of the basic problems of psychology of the religion as a scientific direction in its modern condition. A structural analysis is used to show the interconnection of the religion psychology with basic branches of the psychology. In the historical aspect some problems of this country's religion psychology formation in Soviet times are touched upon, in particular its excessive ideologizing and politicization. The proposal is made to define from the start the necessity and sufficiency of religion psychology as an independent discipline, making it in the spirit of initial ideas and on the basis of the latest achievements, which is especially important due to the lessons learned from the recent past. Each group of the problems is supplied with selected bibliography on the subject.
