"The past will embrace me lividly..." (timed to 210 years of Pushkin anniversary)

Abstract

The article gives a review of some little -known recollections about A.S. Pushkin, who became the first and the only national poet of Russia and whose glory left no one indifferent. The memory of him is hold sacred in the Russian people, about which many stories of contemporaries and admirers of his genius testify. Alongside recollections of educated people, carriers of noble families cultures, we can mark some peculiar common people Pushkiniana, separate fragment s of which are given in the article (stories by the petty bourgeois Ivan Lapin, Pushkin’s valet N.E. Fedorov, Mikhailovskoye keeper A.F. Fedorova, K. Korovin’s apprentice Vasili Belov). These recollections differ in their unique angle, transferee fresh features of the poet’s image. There you may find some facts from the history the Pushkin reserve, the activities of its director S.S. Geichenko (1945-1989) and the remarkable Pushkin scholar A.A. Cherkashin are mentioned. The second part of the article deals with recollections, connected with the opening the monument to Pushkin in Moscow.
