Fuzzy religiousness as a consequence of transformations of the modern Christianity in the modernizing world

Abstract

Transformation of the institute of religion which is under way under the influence of the processes of modernization and globalization, contains general and unique features for each society. The common in them is that Christianity is going through the period of functional marginalization and decline in the general level of the traditional religiousness. At the same time the challenge cast by the modern times to Christianity has triggered mechanisms, transforming religion into the side of its adaptation to variations of the modern society demands. The basic aim of the offered analysis is to retrace by the example of the European continent how the modern society under modernization influences the religious sphere, transforming religion and religiousness. The author of the analyses proves that at the present time we can mark qualitatively new configurations of the religious space, which is becoming ever more uncertain and fluctuating, and the religious belief becomes eclectic.
