Abstract

The article concerns the development of the classical Roman eclogue during the Carolingian epoch (the VIII-IX centuries) and its reconsideration within the medieval culture. Over a hundred - odd years the contents of the eclogue became totally Christian, though it retained the formal features of the antique genre.
