Dynamics of the religious organizations in the pre-revolutionary Russia: historical and statistical survey

Abstract

The article contains the historical and statistical survey of the most widespread religious institutions in the pre-revolutionary Russia. The author focuses on the description of the main quantitative changes, which took place in the Orthodox Church institutions of Russia within the period from the X century last decades through to the beginning of the XX century. The analysis shows high degree of the Church institutions involvement into the political and economic system, that may be recognized as one of the main objective reasons behind the forthcoming phenomenon in Russian Orthodoxy.
