The Council for Russian Orthodox Church Affairs and Moscow Patriarchate in solution of foreign policy tasks under Khrushchev (1953-1958)

Abstract

The article is devoted to interaction of the Council for the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Affairs attached to the Council of ministers of the USSR and Moscow Patriarchate directed to solve the Soviet government foreign policy tasks in 19531958. Forms and methods of international ROC activities on the part of the Council have been considered. The article presents the activities results of the Council for the Russian Orthodox Church Affairs in directing “foreign policy” of the Moscow Patriarchate on the guidelines of top priority from the Khrushchev’s point of view: that is Middle East, European as well as realization of plans of Orthodox Churche into the World Council of 107 Churches.
