Problem of tolerance in the religious and philosophical and social and political thought of the Ratche Pospolite in the second half of the XVI and first half of the XVII century

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of tolerance within the framework of various confessional directions in the religious and philosophical thought in the Ratche Pospolite in the second half of the XVI and first half of the XVII century. The general feature for them is an instrumental attitude to the value of the tolerance phenomenon. The distinguished feature is the higher level of recognition of significance of tolerance as compared with approaches in the confessional discourses of the other European countries. That could be explained by the specifics of the social and political situation in the Ratche Pospolite, characterized by the legal securing of the principle of the religious tolerance.
