Historiography of the Black-Hundred movement: stages of formation

Abstract

The article examines the origin of the Russian and foreign historiography of the Black-Hundred movement. It analyses both the political situation in the country and the advance in the historical science in the -research aspect, it examines in detail the research carried out into the Black Hundreds and individual unions and parties constituting the core of the movement as well as the regional aspects of the activities of particular branches of various organizations of the movement in the regions. The article also examines archival sources of the Russian State Historical Archives and the State Archives of the Russian Federation, provides a general overview and gives a brief analysis of the key source categories. The article summarizes the origin and dynamics of historiography and identifies the sources that reveal the basic tendencies of the origin and functioning of the Black Hundreds as a socio-political movement in the early twentieth century.
