Curved paths: Chaucer and Gogol (Timed to 200 years to commemorate N.V. Gogol)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the image of path leading to the Christian symbolism, which is keynoted both in the Canterbury stories by Geoffrey Chaucer and in the Dead souls by Gogol. The author considers the horizontal and vertical movement in both compositions and juxtaposes the space dynamics of the texts, written by Chaucer and Gogol.
