Ascetic doctrine about purity and pilgrimage in The ladder of Perfection by John Climacus

Abstract

The article considers key aspects of the ascetic teaching of the well known Christian hermit and thinker of VI-VII century venerable John Climacus. Owing to axiological approach to the problem a valuable contents of the above teaching has been analyzed. The author's interpretation of the outstanding issues of "The ladder of Perfection" is offered within the context of the opposition between sacred and secular on the basis of the comprehension of the religion experience phenomenology
