Abstract

The article is devoted to the processes of modernization of in the history of Russia and the role of religion in them. The vigorous pursuit in Russian Orthodox Church, its attempts to take part in modernization is marked. Alongside stereotypes of ideological engagement of the state institutions, replacement of the communist ideology by the religious one in the politicians and functionaries notions come into conflict with f the Constitution and prevent the democratic development and modernization.
