The August agreement and stands of the Pentecostals in 1940-1950-ies

Abstract

The August agreement is the treaty on communion of Christians of the Evangelical Belief or Pentecostals with the Evangelical Christians-and Baptists, concluded under the influence of the authorities in August in 1950. The conditions of the treaty were not beneficial especially for the Pentecostals, that is why the most part of them agreed to setting up the communion formally or denied joining the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church at all. By the end of 1940 the country witnessed the Pentecost underground becoming stronger. In 1956 the Pen-tecosts made an attempt to revise the legal Union of the Christians of the Evangelical Belief, which resulted in mass exodus of believers from communion in the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church.
