About the theological significance of the epistolary heritage of the sainted hierarch Philaret (Drozdov)

Abstract

Based on the material of the private correspondence of Philaret Metropolite of Moscow, addressed primarily to the female representatives of the intellectual elite, the article represents the pastoral aspect of the Episcopal ministry of the saint hierarch. The article analyses the nature of his epistolary heritage, reflecting the fundamental tenets of the Orthodox ascetical theology, serving the foundation for the theology and ideology of the hierarch.
