Concept of free will in Shestov's works within the dialogue with the tradition of Judaism

Abstract

The article is devoted to consideration of one of the basic philosophical categories - free will, evolution of relation to this category in Shestov's works, study of correlation of his views with the traditional theology of Judaism. Conclusions are made in the article about undisputable approach of Shestov's world outlook and views on free will to the Old Testament traditions in the course of his creative work development. For Shestov the basic essence of man's existence is the realization of divine potential concealed in him that manifests itself in freedom and creativity.
